Overview

Summary:

 

Assists in executing sound design for Hard Rock Live events and productions and supports live event functions across property as needed. Performs the duties of the Head Sound during the Department Leads absence. Carries out duties under limited supervision, maintaining high standards for safety and craftsmanship. Handles and moves sound equipment. Supervises the work of the sound department, while maintaining high standards of craftsmanship, efficiency and safety.

Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Serves as FOH or monitor board programmer and operator for productions.
  • Works with local sound crew during load-in, work calls, rehearsals, shows, and load-out of productions.
  • Serves as A-2 for outside organizations using theater’s venues or special events as assigned.
  • Serves as Head sound in the absences of venue A1.
  • Communicates with the Head Sound and the Production Managers to provide and obtain information necessary to execute designs.
  • Assists in maintaining the safety and efficiency of all sound department operations.
  • Assists in maintaining the safety and efficiency of storage and workspaces.
  • Uses a variety of tools, processes, materials, and equipment in completing assigned projects.
  • Participates in the maintenance and repair of theatrical sound system and equipment.
  • Assists with provision and implementation of safe overhead rigging for sound equipment.
  • Assists related departments when needed.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
  • Works days, nights, and weekends, and in accordance with performance schedule.

Qualifications

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Preferably 3-5 years of sales experience in the live event industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of theory and techniques in sound equipment, signal distribution and design.
  • Experience with DiGiCo, Yamaha digital boards, QLab, ProTools, SMAART, line array calculations, software/hardware.
  • Self-starter with a strong work ethic.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Calm and collected under pressure with a strongly demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, follow schedules and give/follow clear instructions.
  • Demonstrated ability to receive and operate cues during soundchecks, rehearsals, and performances.
  • Knowledge of job-related health and safety issues. Ability to identify potential hazards
  • Ability and willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by game and event schedule.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders.
  • Ability to work effectively at significant elevations such as grid, ladders, and lifts.
  • Ability to repeatedly lift, carry, push or pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to sit and stand for long periods.
  • Ability to hold and operate hand, air and power tools.
  • Ability to repeatedly bend, stoop, kneel, crawl, squat and crouch.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: (Licenses, Certifications, Testing, etc):

  • Must obtain and maintain all licenses / certifications per Federal, State, and Gaming regulations.
  • Must successfully pass background check.
  • Must successfully pass drug screening.
  • Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age.
